Filter Editor Protocol: Event Display

General options

Attributes: To edit the table of the colour attributes used for displaying the events.

Control field format (independent for SL and DL)

Defined up to: For frame events, the number of decoding levels is defined up to a maximum level.
The uppermost decoding level must be selected from the following list of choices:-

  • Upper spec: The uppermost specified protocol in the stack.
  • Decoding 1: Related to layer 1 of the protocol stack.
  • Decoding i: Related to layer i of the protocol stack.
  • Display mode: Table of the display modes attached to the protocol fields of each decoding level.
The highlighted display mode is the current one, which can be modified:-

    • Di mode: Current display mode attached to decoding level i.
Replace: To replace the current display mode with another one.

Display ASN.1 decoding: To select the ASN.1 decoding mode:-

    • No: BER (basic encoding rules) decoding mode is used.
    • Yes: Detailed decoding mode is used.

Data field format (independent for SL and DL)

Length: Number of octets actually displayed from the beginning of the data field.
If some octets are truncated during event recording, they are replaced with <...>.

Display mode: For frame events, the data field and conveying data is displayed at the uppermost decoding level possible, according to the protocol stack specifications.
The display mode of the data field can be selected from the following list of choices:-

  • Hexa
  • Ascii 7 bits
  • Ascii 8 bits
  • Ebcdic
