How to Monitor PPP and IP over Vseries interfaces

Connecting the unit

The Clarinet Book USB Vseries uses serial or parallel mode to connect.

Setting the test conditions for Vseries monitoring

A new profile can be created from a template, using the wizard, by selecting:-

  • Profile=>New=>Vseries... (see: building).
  • Profile with a description including, Vseries, Monitor, PH=V24 DL=Asyn
  • Filter with a description including, DL=Asyn-PPP

The profile created by the wizard is ready for Asynchronous monitoring on a V24 interface.

Example: Modifications to support V24 interface at 38400 bits/s

By default the clock value is 9600 bit/s.

In the profile go to Interface=>Spec...=>Data Link:-

  • Baud rate on Tx: select or enter 38400
  • Baud rate on Rx: select or enter 38400

Any Baud Rate value can be entered directly in these fields.

Running the profile

To launch the profile:-

  • Select Profile=>Run or click on the horse_on.gif (968 octets) button. You be able to select the name of profile (See Running a test).
  • The Event Editor window is automatically opened.

To stop the profile:-

  • Click on the horse_off.gif (975 octets) button. (see: Stopping a test).
  • The Event Editor window is automatically closed.

Clock frequency measurement

During profile execution, the Clock manual command causes the measurement of the clock frequency of the Data link.
