How to Simulate one Basic Call over BRI U/S-T from the User Side

Simulation of an ISDN terminal is one of the features directly covered by the templates included in the Clarinet Run-Time.

Connecting the unit

The Clarinet Book USB U/S-T which simulates the User side in front of a Network, uses one of the interfaces:

  • U: the "From LT" RJ45 connector. See:  pin-out
  • S/T: one of the "S/T Bus" RJ45 connectors. See:  pin-out

Creating the profile for BRI-User simulation

A new profile can be created  with the Wizard from the Template list by selecting:

  • Profile->New->ISDN......See: building a test
    • ETSI
    • ATT
  • Profile with a description including ISDN, Simu, User, PH=S0 or U, SL=Q931
    • ETSI
    • ATT
  • Filter with a description including  SL= Q931, DL=BOP

Example using the wizard:

  • ProfileèNewèISDNèETSIèisdn_etsi_simu_usr_s0.acpèFilter?èisdn_etsi_bop.acf
  • ProfileèNewèISDNèATT-5ESSèisdn_att_simu_usr_u.acpèFilter?èisdn_att_bop.acf

Profiles resulting from the wizard are ready for monitoring in the D channel with Q931 decoding

  • Modifications to apply to the profile regarding physical interface:
    • U Options: Power source monitoring.
    • S/T  Options: Power source monitoring, 100 Ohms termination.....

  • Modifications to apply to the profile regarding Q931 signalling:

    • Changing the dialed number: Generator è Comm1 èEdit è Called Party NumberèCoding

Saving the profile:

  • ProfileèSave asèfilename.acp.

Running the profile

To launch the profile:

  • Select Profile->Run or click horse_on.gif (968 octets) (it allows selection of the profile name). See Running a test
  • The Event-Editor window is automatically opened.

To stop the profile:

  • Click horse_off.gif (975 octets)  See: Stopping a test
  • The Event-Editor window is automatically closed.

Troubleshooting over BRI U/S-T

  • No messages displayed on the Event-Editor windows over BRI U/S-T interface. Check PH events.
