How to Simulate V5.2 - AN Side over E1 Interface

Simulation of V5 AN equipment is one of the features of the Clarinet Run-Time.

Connecting the unit

The Clarinet Book USB E1/T1 which simulates the AN side in front of an LE, uses the B port, 'From LE'.

The Clarinet Book can be connected to the E1 interface in:-

Creating the profile for V5.2 AN simulation

A new profile can be created a template, using the profile wizard, by selecting:-

  • Profile=>New=>V5 (see: building).
  • Profile with a description, including ISDN, Simu, AN, PH=E1 SL=V5.2
  • Filter with a description, including SL=V5

Example using the wizard:-

  • Profile=>New=>V5.x=>v52_simu_an_e1_bri.acp=>Filter?=>v5.acf
  • Profile=>New=>V5.x=>v52ed2_simu_an_e1_pri.acp=>Filter?=>v5.acf

The profile created by the wizard is ready for monitoring in the C channels over time slot 16 and 15:-

  • Modifications to apply to the profile relating to the physical interface:-
    • E1 options: CRC4 multi-frame is normally used over V5 (selected by default).
      Deselect it if not used (Interface Specs=>Link=>Options).
  • Modifications to apply to the profile relating PSTN signalling:-
    • Changing the port number: [PSTN User port Emulator config]=>Port1=>Edit=>Port address
    • Changing the dialled number: [PSTN User port Signalling Behavior]=>Generator=>Port1=>Edit =>Digits

Saving the profile under a new name:-

  • Profile=>Save as=>filename.acp.

Running the profile

To launch the profile:-

  • Select Profile=>Run or click on the horse_on.gif (968 octets) button. You will be able to select the name of profile (See Running a test).
  • The Event Editor window is opened automatically.

To stop the profile:-

  • Click on the horse_off.gif (975 octets) button (See: Stopping a test).
  • The Event Editor window is automatically closed.

Troubleshooting over E1

  • No messages are displayed in the Event Editor window: Check whether there are any alarm indications such as ' -+ FL' or '++FL' meaning that no signal is detected.
  • The protocol messages are displayed in the wrong directions: the E1 pair connected to the A and B port are the wrong way round.
