LAN Monitoring - MAC Addresses

Monitoring is carried out according to the interface specifications. The analysis connection uses the DL coprocessor serial data link with the initialization parameters specified in the profile (Monitor emulation mode).

The frames whose source and destination addresses match one of the Monitoring addresses selected in the profile are displayed.

Each address field can be defined by:

• An address hexadecimal value.
• An alias value which can be:
  • Entered directly.
  • Chosen in the list of alias values previously defined.
  • Any address value.
  • Broadcast value.

The destination addresses are filtered by hardware and the source addresses are filtered by software. Therefore, if a destination address is defined as Any address, the amount of monitored data may become too large resulting in some lost events.
