Clarinet Initialization

Configuration principle

The CLARINET system is based on the use of a HOST PC. The following configuration levels are accessible:

  • Configuration of the WINDOWS environment used by CLARINET programs. This environment has options which can be configured.
  • CLARINET system configuration initialized by the CLARINET-INIT utility, accessible from the PDS Clarinet group.

The user can access the configuration of certain CLARINET programs via:

  • The WINDOWS environment.
  • The CLARINET-INIT utility which allows the edition and selection of a configuration file.

The CLARINET-INIT Window provides access to the dialogue allowing you to choose and specify the configuration options via menus. They are:

  • System information: list of installed packages.
  • Hardware options.
  • Configuration options, to initialize the MANAGER applications, saved in a file:-
    • Definition of units controlled by each MANAGER,
    • Definition of processes associated with the profile execution.
    • Possible definition of a complementary user application.

The current MANAGER configuration is set by the selection of a file in the list of existing configuration files.

MANAGER configuration

The MANAGERs are defined to execute profiles according to the configuration of applications relative to the interface type.

Configuration of applications is started by setting general options and the association of independent PROCESSes. The configuration file saves these initializations and can be modified via CLARINET-INIT.

  • For each Manager (1 or 2), the following parameters are defined:-
    • The CLARINET interface number(s) being controlled.
    • The processes associated with the profiles (COMPANIONS), their options and their launching position:-
      • Launching at the beginning of the profile.
      • Launching at the end of the profile.
  • A User application can be defined for complementary processing on events (edition, filtering).
  • For each Process, the following parameters are defined:-
    • The program name.
    • The options associated with the program.
    • The file types which may be used.
    • The opening and closing conditions of the associated Window.

SINGLE-MANAGER configuration

A MANAGER has the capability to control, via the AS-DRIVER, one or several AS-INTERFACEs.

The standard configuration installed on the HOST defines one MANAGER.

With the SINGLE-MANAGER mode, CLARINET-SYSTEM allows the operatiion of one MANAGER.

DUAL-MANAGER configuration

With an advanced configuration defined by the operator, CLARINET-SYSTEM allows the simultaneous operation of two MANAGERs.

The DUAL-MANAGER mode enables independent management of the supported interfaces.

Duplicating the MANAGERs entails those of associated profiles and PROCESSes:-

  • Two profiles are executed separately.
  • The MANAGER and EVENT-EDITOR Windows are relative to each profile executed.

The allocation of the CLARINET AS-INTERFACEs in the HOST is defined by a configuration file which can be edited by CLARINET-INIT. By default all the Clarinet boards are allocated to the Manager 1.

The simultaneous operation of two MANAGER's is achieved by opening two MANAGER Windows with different launching parameters.

MANAGER launching options

The \CLATOOLS\WAC_MD.EXE program initialises the manager configuration dialogue. It supports the following options:

  • -m1: Launching under manager 1.
  • -m2: Launching under manager 2.

The WAC_MD.EXE program is launched by the Clarinet shortcut.
