Hardware Installation: Clarinet Book

Clarinet Book USB Configuration

The Clarinet Book USB hardware is made up of one or several modules, each connected to the host PC through the USB interface and optionally powered by an external power supply unit (if the power supply is not directly provided by the USB connection). Normally a set of 4 rechargable batteries is inserted into each Clarinet module.

One host PC can simultaneously control several Clarinet Book USB units. Each module has an ID address (from 1 to 7), which can be changed using the ID coding wheel on the module. Each Clarinet module must have a different ID value.

Clarinet Book SCSI Configuration

The Clarinet Book SCSI hardware is made up of one or more external modules powered by their own individual power supply units and connected to the host PC by a SCSI-2 interface (a SCSI cable is provided with each Clarinet Book SCSI module):

  • Each module has two SCSI connectors in order to facilitate daisy chain connection.
  • One SCSI terminator (provided with each Clarinet Book SCSI module) must be connected to the last module.

One host PC can simultaneously support several (up to 6) Clarinet Book SCSI modules. Each module uses one address on the SCSI bus: the CLARINET-ID. The ID coding wheel on each module sets the address (from 1 to 6). Each Clarinet module must have a different ID value.

Clarinet Book ATM

If multiple Clarient modules, of which one or more are of the ATM type, are conected to the host PC, one of the ATM modules must be assigned ID value 1.
