Introduction to Boot Flash

The Clarinet Book flash memory boot version is automatically updated (Clarinet Run-time version 8.4 or greater) or can be updated (if initiated by PDS support).

Access to the Boot flash is provided by the BOOTUPDATE.EXE program. It is located in the \FLASH\DISK1 directory of the Clarinet RUN-TIME software package.

Boot flashing procedure

1. The Clarinet Book should be connected to the PC & recognised by Windows on the SCSI bus.
2. The BOOTUPDATE.EXE program is launched.
3. The boot updating process is carried out just after validation.
4. The Boot Flash window reports:
   • The significant information fields and the updating status for each Clarinet Book in the configuration.
   • The execution trace of the BOOTUPDATE.EXE program. The trace can be copied (by Ctrl C) and pasted (by Ctrl V) into a text file if necessary.
