Software Installation: Security Key

Purpose

Some Clarinet Software Packages (Clarinet ETS and Clarinet DEV-TTCN) require the installation and authorization of the Clarinet security key. One program Software Authorization provided by PDS allows:

  • The edition of the security key configuration
  • The update of authorization information by entering a password in the security key

Installation

Access to the Software Authorization is provided by the Wractive.exe program. It is installed in the \clarinet\clatools directory by the Clarinet Run-time software installation.

The program can be launched:

  • Directly from Windows file manager by double-clicking
  • By a shortcut created by the customer

Specifying Passwords

Each security key has a unique serial number (the 'Client number') printed on the label.

Client Number:

A string of characters called the 'Application password' provided by PDS Customer Service has to be entered by the end customer. Because each security key has a unique serial number, no two authorization passwords are the same. Upon receipt of the security key, the customer must contact PDS Customer Service to request the passwords (by filling in and faxing back to PDS the Product Registration form which includes a Request for Passwords section).

Determining the Security Key's Current Authorization

The execution of the protected Clarinet-programs (ETS, TTCN) requires verification of the Current Authorization in the Security Key connected to the parallel port. By selecting the Show Authorization button, the customer can read :

  • The serial number of the security key.
  • The currently authorized products.

A security key is delivered with the first protected package. The Current Authorization is entered in this security key.

Updating procedure

  • The security key has to be connected alone to the parallel port.
  • The password has been received from PDS.
  • The program WRACTIVE.EXE is launched.
  • The customer enters the value indicated on the registration sheet provided by PDS:
    • Password
  • The customer applies by selecting the command "Apply"
  • The customer verifies the registration by selecting the command "Show Authorization"
