What is created?

The installation of Clarinet ETS creates the directories Claets and one sub-directory for each ETS under the path selected during installation (default is C:\Clarinet).

The installation of each Clarinet ETS creates the following entry in the list of installed packages displayed by Clarinet-Init:

  • Clarinet ETS
    • Version x.y <date>

How to start?

Each ETS is delivered with a set of Clarinet templates and documentation files in PDF format; all are installed in the ETS sub-directory.

Additional packages: tools

Some Free tools are provided:

  • A TTCN report generator based on Word 97
  • A TTCN-HTML viewer.

The documentation required to install and run these packages is provided in each package.

Security Key

All the ETS are provided on a single CD-ROM. Execution and Installation of any Clarinet Package ETS is controlled by a Security-key. The passwords should be requested from PDS before starting installation, by sending the form attached to the delivery note.

For the running of the installation procedure and for the execution of ETS, the security key has to be connected on the parallel port and programmed with the the corresponding password. (See procedure notice added with the security key and the 'Software installation: Security Key' topics of Clarinet Help which explains how to program the security-key).

Licence agreement

The use of the CLARINET software programs, delivered on this CD-ROM, require compliance with the general conditions of the CLARINET SOFTWARE USE LICENCE.

Structure of the CD-ROM 'Clarinet ETS'

Two groups of ETS are located in two main directories, with use of the following Sub-directories:

  • ETS32: ETS in 32bit-mode developed in the second stage of Clarinet-TTCN.

  • Atmforum: ATS published by the ATM-Forum

  • ETSI: ATS published by ETSI (ISDN ETS 300 ..., TBR).

  • Frame Relay: ATS relating to the Frame Relay protocol

  • Ft: ATS published by France-Telecom (ISDN French delta new-version).

  • Ni: ATS published by National ISDN.

  • ETS16: ETS in 16bit-mode developed in the first stage of Clarinet-TTCN.

  • Ft: ATS published by France-Telecom (ISDN French delta version1).

  • Ostc: ATS published by Ostc (ISDN NET/CTS).

Both of them can be installed and executed under Clarinet-system (version number > 8.0) running Windows 9x or Windows NT.

The directory names are listed in the index.htm file of the CD-ROM.

The directory corresponding to each ETS includes:

  • Directories Disk1, Disk2... to install the ETS.

  • A directory named Run containing Clarinet events files which can be copied manually or only edited from the CD-ROM (see more information below).

ETS directory content

The ETS sub-directory (name provided in index.htm) installed on the PC includes everything needed to execute the ETS:

Each sub-directory includes:

  • Tester Templates
  • PICS/PIXIT files filled with standard parameters
  • Documentation files (Word 7.0 and Acrobat) format:
    • ETS_ope: Provides information about ETS operation (templates files, profiles...).
    • ETS_ref: Provides information about ETS reference (ATS origin).
  • IUT profiles, filters to run the Clarinet
  • Object files allowing modification of the ATS and to compile with Clarinet TTCN development package:
    • custom.obj.
    • userop.obj

Samples of execution

The directory named Run contains Clarinet events files. The files result from the running of the ETS in front of standard IUT. They provide some help to customers who want to see the TTCN trace and the PDU exchange. They can be edited with the Clarinet Event-Editor. A filter is generally also included but may need updating depending on the Clarinet Run-Time version used.
