Initialization of Clarinet-Book USB ISDN-BRI U/S-T

Clarinet Book USB ISDN-BRI U/S-T: operating side

L1 The LED L1 (Red colour) reflects the battery and charger state:
  • Continuously ON: charge process completed or interrupted
  • 2 flashes: high current charging
  • 1 flash: trickle charging

The LEDs flash briefly every 3-4 seconds.
The charge process is halted:

  • When the CLARINET is running a profile
  • When the battery is fully charged
  • During CLARINET initialization (about 30s after power-on, or loader op.)

Normal operating states is "continuously ON".
When the LED is continuously OFF it means the battery is flat

ID
(Coding wheel)
Several Clarinet modules connected to the PC must have a different ID's (from 1 to 7), set by the coding wheel. After changing the value selected on the coding wheel the Clarinet Loader must be executed.
ON  Pushing the button (through the hole) resets the Clarinet-Book unit
Power To connect the Power-adapter unit
Handset RJ11 to connect a regular phone handset
Transdata 15 pin SUB-HD to connect the Trandata link
USB To connect the USB cable (type B)
SIG For maintenance purposes
L2 The LED L2 (green) reflects the USB state (configuration and power):
  • 1 flash: USB OK - powered by USB
  • 2 flashes: USB OK - powered by external power adapter
  • 3 flashes: USB OK - powered by battery
  • 4 flashes: USB unconfigured - powered by external power adapter
  • 5 flashes: USB unconfigured - powered by battery

The LEDs flash briefly every 3-4 seconds.
Normal operating states are states 1 or 2.

Clarinet Book USB ISDN-BRI U/S-T: interface side

L3 ON= running a profile having the U interface selected.
PWR IN For the external Power-supply to provide power to the Terminal when simulating the Network:
  • NT1 simulation over the S interface.

An external Power-adapter unit can be connected to the Clarinet-Book unit.
The PWR OUT-> PWR IN wiring can also be used if the Clarinet-Book external Power-adapter is connected.

L4 ON= running a profile having the S-T interface selected.

Setting-up the Clarinet

Unit Power The Clarinet module connected to the PC can be powered by :
  • A set of batteries normally placed inside the module.
  • The USB connection to the PC (or a HUB device).
  • An external power supply unit.

When the CLARINET is only powered by USB (bus-powered device), it is only trickle charged.
As the NiMH batteries can be deteriorated by overcharging, a full charge process is only done if the battery is detected low at initialization. To force a full-charge process, select 0 on the coding wheel and connect the external power adapter.

Startup THe CLARINET is started up when power is detected on USB bus during the PC power-on sequence, or when a USB connector is plugged in.

The CLARINET automatically shuts-down when USB is suspended (PC powered off, or USB disconnected) after a short delay:

  • 30 s if the device has been configured via USB
  • 3 ' if the device is unconfigured, to give time for the PC to boot

If CLARINET is shutdown with the ON button, the USB cable must be unplugged-plugged to restart it.
